VetIMPRESS vs. Vivetra for farm vets
The short answer: VetIMPRESS (sometimes searched as “Vet Impress”) is a farm-vet data platform from Farmvet Systems in Northern Ireland, owned by Vetoquinol since 2018. It pulls in data from more than 100 external sources across 10 countries, produces antimicrobial-usage (AMU) and vet-spend reports, and is designed to integrate directly with a practice management system.
Vivetra Livestock is the other layer: the practice’s own clinical record for individually identified animals, with a group/lot medicines ledger, withdrawal tracking and AMU reporting from your own records, at a flat $200/mo. Every VetIMPRESS fact below is quoted from its own website with a link, checked on the date shown.

About this comparison. This is Vivetra’s own comparison — we picked the dimensions and wrote the framing, so read it as an interested party’s argument checked against sourced facts, not a neutral review. Which is right for you?
Choose VetIMPRESS if…
you’re happy with your current PMS and want a data layer on top of it. That means AMU and vet-spend reporting, vaccine and routine treatment reminders and farm event alerts, drawing on external data sources you couldn’t pull in yourself.
Consider Vivetra if…
the problem is the practice-side record itself: individual animals and group treatments in two places, withdrawal dates worked out by hand, AMU rebuilt for every report. You want one flat $200/mo system that holds all of it.
Where Vivetra fits
These products overlap less than the name search suggests. VetIMPRESS describes itself as a platform that collects, aggregates and presents data, integrating with a PMS. Vivetra Livestock is where the clinical and medicines record is written in the first place. Some practices may want both. We don’t offer an integration between them, so if you rely on VetIMPRESS today, plan for that. See the Livestock service or the UK & Ireland livestock comparison.
Where Vivetra genuinely falls short
- No external data aggregation. VetIMPRESS connects to more than 100 external sources across 10 countries. Vivetra’s AMU and herd reporting comes only from records your practice enters.
- No VetIMPRESS integration. If you want both, they won’t talk to each other.
- No portal bill-pay for farm clients. Staff can take card payments on invoices, but the farm-client portal is read-only.
- Newer vendor. VetIMPRESS has been in use since 2010 with Vetoquinol behind it. Vivetra has no comparable track record yet.
